Mrinfo Information

Mrinfo

• I use mrinfo to get a clue regarding the health of a multicast capable router. If the router does not respond to mrinfo, it is either running an old version of mrouted or it is not doing multicast at the moment.
• If a router lists a link as down then it is not getting appropriate responses from its neighbor and you should run mrinfo on the neighbor.
• If a router lists a link as a leaf then it thinks that this link leads to a branch of the MBone that has no connections creating a cycle in the MBone containing this router. Generally this designation is only used if the neighboring router has no other neighbors.
