Seaborg's Comments: This photograph was taken when President Kennedy gave the Charter Day address in UC Berkeley's Memorial Stadium. Dr. Seaborg was quite impressed with the President's ability to absorb large amounts of information quickly and coherently. "On the way out he had talked to me about the University and wanted to know something about the people involved and so forth, and he was looking at the text (of his address) as he was talking to me. I gave him a good deal of background. I was astonished when he gave the address that he was able to bring out all of the information that I had given him about the people at Berkeley that were working in his administration, and pretty well gave the entire Charter Day address without more than glancing at the text."
